is a collaborative work that rediscovers the link between ink painting and the martial arts of aikido and iaido. The dynamic synergy between the fine arts and the martial arts are reflected on each page as ink paintings mesh with poetic expression. A nationally exhibited fine artist, Lisa Chakrabarti and writer and martial arts instructor Beth Shibata see these  arts as they were traditionally used—as tools for enlightenment.

The tip of the brush touches paper:

ink travels and a leaf unfurls.

The brush, pushed down and to the side,

births a wider leaf as the brush rises.

Harmony

Harmony lies between ink and no ink

               contrast between near and far

               balance between dark and light

choice between leave in leave out

What is captured and what is not

                  create harmony.
